NEW - Public hearing on proposed lake management district formation April 28
A public hearing on the proposed formation of a lake management district for Long Lake will be held during the Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners’ regular business meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division Street, Port Orchard.

Celebrate Suquamish!, an Open House and Community Clean-up, takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the United Church of Christ, 18732 Division Avenue NE, at the corner of Division and Geneva streets in Suquamish.

NEW - Roadwork planned at the Courthouse Campus
A contractor (CTS) is placing conduit between the Public Works and Administration Buildings beginning 7 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday). The work area on Austin Street starts just south of the entrance to the Public Works building and will temporarily close four parking spaces on the Public Works Building side of the road, north (downhill) of the entrance to the Public Works Building. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and require motorists to alternate using that lane to get through the work area. Flagger will direct motorists through the work area. Work is expected to continue through the weekend. Please use care and caution while driving through the work area and plan accordingly.

Medicine Take Back Day this Saturday, April 26
Three local law enforcement agencies, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the Bainbridge Island Police Department and the Suquamish Tribal Police Department are conducting a Take Back Day to help residents dispose of unwanted medications.

Mental health survey results released
Kitsap County recently conducted a survey regarding the 1/10th of 1% Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Therapeutic Courts sales tax funding priorities. This retail sales tax funds a county-wide infrastructure for behavioral health treatment programs and services.

County seeks road project ideas
Kitsap County is seeking road project ideas and suggestions to be included in the 6-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Each year Kitsap County Public Works completes a transportation project selection process. This year’s process determines which new roadway projects are selected for the the 2015–2020 TIP.

2014 Waste Tire Roundup announced
Residents of Kitsap and North Mason Counties may bring up to ten (10) waste passenger vehicle or light truck tires, on or off-rim, to the Port of Bremerton Olympic View Business and Industrial Parks April 12-13 and April 26-27 for recycling at no charge.

Kitsap County is working cooperatively with the Kitsap Regional Library (KRL) district discussing the feasibility of locating a new 8,000-10,000 square foot Silverdale library branch on the Central Kitsap Community Campus.

Citizens who serve on Kitsap county advisory groups, boards and community councils have the opportunity to participate in and promote effective, efficient county service. Boards and councils serve as bridges of communication between citizens, their communities and Kitsap County government. The Board of County Commissioners is currently accepting applications for vacancies on several advisory groups.

Citizens On Patrol, Sheriff’s Office volunteers needed
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office seeks volunteers for its Citizens On Patrol (COP) and Community Resources programs. COP volunteers support unincorporated areas of the county providing Sheriff’s Office presence to enhance public safety, enforce parking-prohibited regulations, conduct home vacation checks, process abandoned vehicles and assist with traffic control and community events.
