About Greater Hansville

The Greater Hansville Area is located at the north end of Kitsap peninsula’s northern arm. Approximately 3000 residents comprise over a dozen distinct communities and neighborhoods. Southwest of Greater Hansville, the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe is a sovereign steward of 1,301 acres including shoreline and upland areas.

Hansville’s commercial center is adjacent to Norwegian Point and the junction of Hansville, Point No Point, Buck Lake, and Twin Spits Roads. Greater Hansville features Hood Canal, Admiralty Inlet and Central Puget Sound shoreline, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, community gathering places, quiet back roads, timber and agricultural resource lands, wildlife corridors, parks, greenways and open space. Residents enjoy land and marine-based outdoor recreation, participate in community programs and service organizations, and contribute to local culture and the arts. To learn more about Greater Hansville, including a statement about community values, follow the link to Hansville Futures by clicking here.

About the Planning Process

A typical community planning process has four phases: Visioning, Plan Development, Revisions, and Adoption. Factors such as the scope of the plan, level of citizen participation, and available resources can determine the length of each phase. The planning process is a partnership between County staff and citizens: staff develops a framework and guides the process while citizens contribute plan content. Events such as open houses will be held at various milestones, while regular working meetings provide a predictable venue for updates and build upon one another to carry the project forward.
