Kitsap County Department of Community Development

The Kitsap County Hearing Examiner hears land use applications. The Examiner regularly holds public hearings on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Approximately 10 days after the close of the hearing, the Examiner renders a decision or a recommendation on the application. The Examiner's decision is final (unless appealed) on most land use applications, appeals and shorelines permits. On plat applications, the Examiner renders a Recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners who then hold a hearing and make a decision on the project. Hearings are held in the Commissioner's chambers at the Courthouse in Port Orchard.
