West Kitsap Addendum: Nearshore Habitat Assessment
and Restoration Prioritization Framework
Kitsap County has conducted a nearshore assessment along the
66 miles of Hood Canal shoreline during the summer (June-Sept.) 2008.
Research teams (2-3 people) walked the shoreline at low
tide using GPS units collecting data below the high tide mark
(Ordinary High Water Mark) on natural and man-made features.
The Final Report (as an addendum to the East Kitsap
Report) is available below, in 6 Adobe Acrobat files.
This
data will assist Kitsap County with the following:
1) Identifying and
prioritizing restoration and preservation opportunities
2) Acquiring and
better spending of state and federal grant dollars.3) Shoreline Master
Plan Update, due in 2011.
