Regional IT Services

  • Law and Justice- video arraignment is provided via the County’s network from the Kitsap County Jail to the cities of Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo.
  • Telephone systems and voice mail functions are installed and maintained for agencies like the Kitsap Health District, Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, Work Source and various firMCTe districts.
  • MCT’s (mobile computer terminals) and the first responder’s wireless network for police, fire and emergency management.
  • Franchise Agreements for cable television
  • GIS services for fire districts, utility districts and local cities. Specialized services for agencies like the Kitsap Conservation District and the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. The core of the land based system of parcels and addresses are the critical backbone for Cencom, the dispatch center for first responders.
  • Video conferencing between fire districts, schools and government buildings to conserve travel costs and staff time across the County.

Cooperation with Other Agencies

  • University of Washington Seismic Research Department: the County’s network has been hosting devices sending seismic data to USGS scientists for the last five years.
  • US Census Bureau: To complete the 2010 census, Kitsap County, Poulsbo, Bremerton and Port Orchard were required to update and verify information (LUCA = Local Update Census Addresses). Accurate population data is necessary to balance schools, services and voting districts and for official records. Kitsap’s GIS group was lead role in this project.
  • Kitsap Public Utility District: hosting rain measuring equipment and sending data to hydrologists for analyzing rainfall amounts. Having one central repository for rainfall data, hydrologists and storm water staff from multiple agencies can share information.
