KITSAP COUNTY PARKS NOW OPEN
The Kitsap County Parks are now open for the season. Horseshoe Lake Park is set to be open May 16th.

Please keep in mind that swimming beaches are not guarded and you swim at your own risk, parents should keep a close watch of their children. To help keep children safe, the Kitsap County Parks Department is again partnering with Kitsap Safe Kids Coalition, Kitsap Fire and Rescue, Long Lake Bass Club, Kiwanis Club of Silverdale, Kitsap County Medical Society, Boy Scouts of America, and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital to provide life jacket loaners at the lake parks. Life Jacket Kiosks are set up at Long Lake, Horseshoe Lake, Wildcat Lake, Island Lake, and Buck Lake Parks.

Debris Removal
The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe (Tribe) and the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) are working together to remove debris, remnant pilings, derelict gear and vessels throughout the Bay. The project is being funded by Ecology and will be completed at no cost to local residents. The goal of this project is to improve beach habitats for fish, shellfish and local residents by removing tires, broken docks and remnant wood, metal and boat scrap, concrete or asphalt, tarps, buried fish nets, vessels and other items from the Bay’s beaches. Removal of creosote-treated pilings and other debris will also eliminate ongoing sources of contamination. We will be working with local landowners to obtain permission to remove specific debris from their properties. We are working with the community and appreciate their involvement to make this project a success. Work is anticipated to begin this spring.
