Tire Amnesty Begins September 1st
September is Tire Amnesty Month
(Port Orchard, WA)- Residents of Kitsap
and North Mason Counties may bring their waste passenger vehicle tires to
the Olympic View Transfer Station in Port Orchard during regular business
hours during the month of September for free recycling.
This amnesty applies only to the Olympic View Transfer Station. Tire
recycling is not available at the other Recycling and Garbage Facilities. If
you have more than 50 tires, call 360-337-4898 for instructions.
When: Month of September, 8 am – 5pm daily
Where: Olympic View Transfer Station ONLY; 9300 SW Barney White Rd, Port
Orchard, (near the Bremerton Airport)
Limit: Up to 10 tires, from cars or small/standard pick-up trucks only, per
visit, on or off rim, will be accepted at no charge.
Restrictions:
Loads containing more than 10
tires will be charged $1 each after
the first 10
No bicycle or wheelbarrow tires,
or other small tires
Oversized tires will be charged
the regular rate
Commercial customers will be
charged the regular rate
The program is made available from the Washington
State Department of Ecology to assist local governments with tire-related
clean-up projects. The purpose is to clean up accumulations of old tires on
people’s properties which create an eyesore and/or mosquito breeding
grounds, or habitat for rodents.
The collection event is sponsored by Kitsap Count Public Works, Washington
State Department of Ecology and Waste Management, Inc.
