Kitsap County Treasurer
First-Half Property Taxes Due May 2
(Port Orchard) - Meredith
Green, Kitsap County Treasurer, stated that first-half property taxes
are due on Monday, May 2, because April 30 falls on the weekend. If you
lost or have not received your 2011 first-half tax statement, you can
visit our website at
www.kitsapgov.com/treas or contact the Treasurer’s Office at
360-337-7135 for a duplicate statement. Taxpayers may register on the
website to receive reminders and future tax statements via email.
Taxpayers also have the option to pay
property taxes online at the Treasurer’s website using e-pay, credit or
debit card. The fee for e-pay is $1. Credit or debit cards are charged a
convenience fee (2.5%), which Washington State statute requires.
Beginning in May, taxpayers will be
offered the option of paying their property taxes on a monthly basis. In
order to participate in this program taxes must be current and taxpayers
must sign an agreement for automatic withdrawal. For more information,
taxpayers must visit the website or call.
Due to budget cutbacks, the County
Administration Building remains closed on Fridays. Taxpayers may use the
drop-box outside the door on Division Street if the building is closed.
Payments are typically posted within one business day and should show
online within two days.
If mailing a tax payment, please mail to
the Kitsap County Treasurer, PO Box 299, Bremerton, Washington 98337.
Tax payments must be postmarked by
Monday, May 2, 2011, to avoid interest charges.
