America Recycles Day Poster Contest
Rules and Information

**Please read carefully**

Eligibility All students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade – public, private, and home schools in Kitsap County.
Theme Posters must promote or celebrate buying recycled-content products, “Close the Loop”, recycling, or the benefits of recycling (resource conservation, clean environment, saving landfill space, etc.).
Size 8 ½” X 11” copy paper only drawn horizontally on the page. All artwork must be original.
3-D or collages will not be accepted.
Materials Plain white copy paper. Please use crayons, felt pens, colored chalks, poster paints, or grease pencils.
Release A completed, signed release form must be firmly attached to the back of each entry. Posters submitted to the contest become property of the Kitsap County Public Works and may not be returned to the artist. Click here for release form.
Judging All posters will be judged by grade. A minimum of one poster from each grade level will be selected among the ten winning posters and will be published in local newspapers and on the Kitsap County website.
Awards Each winner will receive an Award of Excellence and will be recognized at the November 14, 2011 Board of County Commissioner’s meeting. A reception in the winners’ honor will be held following the Commissioner’s meeting.
Deadline for Entries Deadline for Entries must be received at the Kitsap County Public Works building no later than 4:00 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2011.

Drop off – 3rd floor reception area of Public Works building (Attention: Callene Abernathy), 507 Austin, Port Orchard, WA.
Policy of Inclusion If these rules prevent a child with a disability from entering the contest, the teacher or leader organizing the program, is authorized to alter the rules to the extent necessary to allow the child to participate. For example, if the child is unable to do hand lettering, he or she may utilize a computer. The size requirements can be waived if a child is unable to draw within the size restrictions. It is up to the organizer to determine for whom this policy is appropriate.

  • Carefully proofread for spelling errors
  • Choose vibrant colors
  • Use a firm hand while lettering and coloring
  • Double check size restrictions 8-1/2" x 11"
    on plain copy paper
