Shredded Paper

The best way to manage shredded paper is to put it in your food and yard waste curbside cart (if available), compost it, or put it in a worm bin. Do not put in curbside recycle carts or mixed paper bins at Recycling and Garbage Facilities. Shredding cuts the paper fibers making them too short to recycle. The short fibers end up as waste at the mill and may cause the bales to be rejected. Shredded paper may be disposed of in your garbage or as garbage at the facilities.
