Seeking Representative for the Board of Equalization

PORT ORCHARD, WA
The Kitsap County Commissioners are seeking applications from residents who are interested in serving the community on the Kitsap County Board of Equalization. The board considers appeals received on the assessed value of properties in Kitsap County. Members review cases and determine if there should be a change in personal and real property assessments. The Board conducts hearings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 9 AM and may meet some evenings. The three to seven members serve three-year terms and receive a $75 per day compensation for each hearing day or $55 for a half-day when they hear appeals. Applicants should be familiar with Kitsap County real estate, and willing and able to participate in a three-day training seminar, which is normally held in May.

To complete an application to be considered for appointment to the Board of Equalization opening in District 3 access the Kitsap County web site at  www.kitsapgov.com/volunteer/frmbrdapp.htm or an application and position description may be obtained from Jan Koske, Kitsap County Volunteer Services Coordinator, at (360) 337-4650 or jkoske@co.kitsap.wa.us Completed applications should be returned by 5 PM on March 24, 2010.
